Road Trip

Car ride - hour 1 (6:30 AM)

I woke up at 4:50 after going to bed at 2:30 so ignore the bags under my eyes.

I'M GOING TO PITTSBURGH TO MEET KAYLEE TODAY. It's a 6 hour drive and we're stopping at the 9/11 Memorial on the way. I am SO excited to meet my best blog friend and her fiance (they're getting married in like less than 2 weeks!).

I'd be live-tweeting this car ride, but I have T-Mobile so if I'm anywhere there are cows and trees, there's no internet. Moo. This ish might not even upload so it might have to wait until I get there to post.

In lieu of unsent tweets, I'll let you know that my brother stopped us as we were pulling out of the driveway to go inside for shoes. What. Yes. He went there. And by there I mean almost on vacation without shoes.

Ooh rest stop has WiFi!

Okay im done rambling now ;)

S.S. Catherine

Once upon a time, there were some young adults who lived in a magical land called Medford, New Jersey. In the land of Medford there was a lake called Pine. The youngsters found great joy in floating their small raft in the middle of the lake and paddling back to shore with their oars.

One day, their two cousins from across the river were walking through the marketplace and spotted an unusually large barge called Oasis Island.

They wrote to one of the youngsters to come visit so they could purchase the barge together. The youngster traveled a great distance and the three purchased it and brought it back to Medford. Little did they know, it would take the strength of 6 people to carry it to its final destination.

Weeks went by until they gathered enough people to bring Oasis Island, which was renamed the S.S. Catherine to the lake for its maiden voyage. The sailors of the S.S. Catherine gathered one day for a remembrance party in honor of the namesake of the barge - a beloved grandmother, Catherine. It was decided that they'd set sail that day. So the cousins, along with their significant others started on a strenuous journey on foot.

The trip was long and treacherous, but in the end, the S.S. Catherine was gracefully eased into the water at Lake Pine.

And they all floated for the rest of the day and lived happily ever after.

And then they watched the US tie, which was not happily ever after.

Grapes and Giggles

Day 9: Today's prompt is: Talk about something fun you did this summer

I've done so many fun things this summer it was hard to pick just one. I celebrated my 22nd birthday, I went to a Phillies-Mets game in NYC, and I hung out with Sarah at the world's cutest diner.
Last week, mom and I we went to 2 wine tastings with my gingery cousins. The original plan was to go to Crossings Winery this week and one next week but we had some extra time so we hit them both up. As you can guess, this did not end well for my lightweight self. I died. I went to bed at 10 pm. But it was fun giggling and being goofy with my cousins for the afternoon and night. The pictures can pretty much show this better than I can word it, but I get weirder when I drink. Enjoy!

Someone please tell me I'm not the only lightweight in Blogland.

Desperate Times Call for Shaved Llamas

Day 4: Today's Prompt Is: Favorite Summer Traditions/Activities.

My favorite summer activity is waking up early while it's still cool out and sitting on the back patio with my tea and Kindle. It's such a relaxing way to start off my day. This year, however, no one(including myself) has felt like cleaning off our table and chairs. So I sleep in and by the time I make tea, I hate myself because it's so hot out.

I think I'll make that my goal this week. With Blogland as my witness, I will get my shiz together and drink tea outside!

Sorry for the lame post. Geez, let me find a picture to make up for it.
And if the shaved llama didn't tickle your fancy, there's always this video of Kristin Chenoweth singing about Anthony Weiner's weiner.

I Should Be Studying

Hi Bloggers! Tonight is a special night because it's Friday. It's the end of the week -  people are out drinking and dancing, relaxing with friends and blowing off some steam. I do not get to be one of those people. I don't get to be young and carefree and do YOLO-y type things because I'm taking a Summer class. (cue scary music) I have a Biology exam on Monday worth a whopping 22% of my grade! (DUN DUN DUNNNNNN) I should be reading over my powerpoints about meiosis and cell reproduction, but I'm not feelin' it. What better way is there to procrastinate than to stalk Miley's and Amanda's Twitter accounts?

Anyway, I hope y'all are out having a great time! Only 18 days left of this torture until I can actually get drunk have some fun, but who's counting?

Hello, Summer!

I went to the beach yesterday!!! You heard me - sand, seagulls, and sunburn in Sea Isle! My pale butt made it down the shore before July for once.

We left around 8:30 after turning around because boyfriend forgot his shirt to change into for dinner. After yelling at him and making fun of him for forgetting his shirt, I quietly realized that I forgot to pack undergarments. Oops, I suck. Thank God I brought a chambray shirt to go with my outfit - it covered everything perfectly (if ya catch my drift).

Once we crossed the bridge over the bay, we stopped for breakfast at The Fractured Prune. This specialty donut shop in Ocean City, NJ has all kinds of delicious sugar-filled confections that no one should ingest that early in the morning. However, we stuffed ourselves and it. was. awesome. I inhaled a strawberry shortcake (bottom left) before digging in on my chocolate bacon donut (bottom middle). Yes, people. That's chocolate AND bacon ON A DONUT.

Every year I'm filled with awe of my first look at the ocean. This year was no different. The weather was gorgeous and the waves were picture perfect.

After lying around for hours, we lugged our stuff off the beach, got changed, and hit up the liquor store before we headed over to Mike's Seafood for dinner. I'm not really a seafood person so I ordered what turned out to be the world's largest eggplant parm. I ate half for dinner and brought the leftovers home. I've already made two meals out of the rest and there's still some left! It was so delicious, but I feel like I'll be eating it forever.

I almost made it out with no sunburn, but noooo, I forgot to reapply sunblock on my feet/ankles. It's a really bizarre looking burn, but I usually come home looking like a lobster so we'll count this as a win.

These day trips down the shore with our friends will be our only hope since neither of our families are going on vacation this summer. I need the seashore like a fish needs water.

P.S. - A ton of businesses and homes at the Jersey Shore were wrecked by Hurricane Sandy and they're still struggling to get their lives back to normal.
