Random Thoughts

Heeeey party people,

I feel like it is almost impossible to get myself to blog lately. I have more free time than I ever had in school, but I just can't bring myself to post. I have multiple almost fully formed ideas written in my notebook, but it seems that the words never make it onto my laptop. I'm either feeling lazy or tired or I just don't feel like missing any of my shows. Does this happen to anyone else?

I think the problem is that I get so involved in a post that it becomes a chore for me and I want to just get back to writing simple things. No matter what "writing the perfect blog post" pins say, I want to write for me and that's all that really matters.

So the rest of this post is basically gonna be a bunch of word vomit.

+ I really love Adam and Blake's bromance on The Voice.

+ I really love my job. Like even more every day,

+I also love that after only 2 months, I feel like I've been friends with my coworker Courtney for years.

+ Why do I never take out my contacts before I start to paint my nails?

+ FROZEN WON AN OSCAR. I freaked out on Twitter and I'm not even sorry about it. I have watched it 3 times this week. #Perfection

+ Sarah posted about blogging today and she linked to a really awesome blog post about what Twitter is like.

+ I had a group chat... and text...and Tweeting spree with Jordan and Kaylee Sunday night. We talked about a bunch of random stuff and we all managed to send each other pictures of us with our respective boozes. So there's that. I love these two and the fact that I can say a paraphrased version of a Disney quote and they can spit it back to me word for word. And the fact that they moved the convo elsewhere when my wine-filled self couldn't keep up with the Twit.

Quote of the night: "If it's not in a mug, it's not champagne."

Also, make sure you check out Amber's birthday month photo challenge on Instagram as part of the #sayyesproject

Also also, today is Amanda's birthday. So send her alcohol and Harry Potter themed presents!

Tell me something completely random!

That Time I Wrote a Post About Shoes

I'm not writing a weekend recap because my weekend was about as exciting as watching paint dry. I cleaned my disaster zone bedroom on Friday night and threw out 2 trash bags worth of stuff and went dress shopping with my cousin for a little bit on Saturday before going to Kris's house and falling asleep on his bed...yet again (I blame the memory foam).

Anyhoodles, as I was cleaning my shit up on Friday, I finally decided to let go of my favorite pair of boots. I haven't been able to wear them in months and they were just collecting dust in my closet.

This year one of my goals is to simplify and I knew that getting rid letting go of my boots was a step in that direction.

I begged my sister to buy these for me as a Christmas present and I was so happy when my Forever21 box arrived with them in it. They instantly become my favorite, and I hadn't had a  pair I liked more than these until right before this Thanksgiving. These boots have seen everything that's happened to me in the last 5 years. They were with me when I finished my first year of college. They saw me get my acceptance email to Temple. They were on my feet at my first rock concert and they were there 3 years later when I met my favorite band. These boots have been stepped on, rained on, and worn until they had holes in the bottom and the snow was seeping in. These boots were loved.

This post is completely random and I know it's a weird way to start your week, but I just wanted to show someone before I let them go completely. If you're still with me, thanks for reading. I'm sure you think I'm a nutso by now, but thanks anyway.

Guess Who's Back...Back Again

Monny's back...tell a friend. Now everyone report to the Blogger, to the Blogger, to the Blogger. Now everyone report to the Blogger alright stop. It's posting time.

Excuse me while I get my white girl on, but I'm here. Yes, it's really me! I've missed blogging so much. A week without internet Mexico was awesome. The weather was perfect(almost) and I only got minimal sunburn! I'm sure I'll have like a week long recap because I have no idea how to get it all into a few posts but I will try.

I came home to some awesome surprises last night. I got my second Influenster VoxBox. This #JollyVoxBox tissues, a mini roll of duct tape, an eyeshadow trio, a box of chocolate (Momma always said...), and lip lacquer. I'll write a review of these products when I've gotten a chance to actually use them, although I couldn't resist opening the chocolate and it's delish.

I also got my Christmas card from Kaylee. She wasn't kidding when she said she drew cartoons of us. Also, I've never seen anyone address a card like she did. It really says "your bloggy bff Kaylee" on the return address. I LOVE IT. It might be one of the best cards I've ever gotten.

Even my senior portrait proofs came in. It makes me feel more official about getting my diploma, even though we don't get to have a graduation for our major. I think they turned out pretty well. I can't wait to order them!

I'll leave you with one of my favorite pics from our trip!

Linking up with Whitney for #backthatazzup Friday. I think this one is pretty fitting for my mindset this week.

Friday?

Happy Friday, y'all (I still feel weird saying that)!

I had all intentions of drinking a beer and writing today's blog post before bed last night, but after the beer, I laid my head down to rest my eyes for a minute and woke up NINE HOURS LATER. So, here we are finally getting that post done.

Except, I have no idea what to write. Aw crud. Okay, new plan - write whatever comes into my head. Annnd GO!

Should I bullet it? Yeah sounds good.

  • The new Snapchat update looks like a kindergarten classroom.
  • I made my Earl Grey perfectly today.
  • I can't believe I have an A in math. It is seriously a miracle. But really.
  • Really not looking forward to 7 hours of manual labor today.
  • How does Whitney fit all that into her purse?
  • I bet Kris is jealous of my whistling skills.
  • I should probably answer the questions Meg sent for my blog spotlight.
  • I should also probably apply to graduate like now.
  • I'm so happy I'm making blog friends!
  • And I'm happy that it's only a little awkward asking people for their numbers.
    • I may or may not have used this line last night.

I think that's about it. Have a fantabulous weekend, everyone!

Rhymes with Bendy's

Hey Peeps!

I've been kinda bummed this week because my summer officially ends on Sunday night. Classes start on Monday. This is the first year I'm not super excited to get back to school. LAME.

I was organizing my Google Drive files when I came across something that made my week 10x better. I found a note that I wrote about work in 2011, about a week before I quit my last job. It makes me happy that I'm not in a place like this anymore. I may complain about my job now, but at least I feel safe when I go into work every day (usually). And I can tolerate my coworkers (usually).

Keep in mind that I was with this company (and their annoying redheaded mascot) for almost three years. I had seen and heard everything I needed to. Even from my first week there, I thought that it was "beneath me," but I was 17 and desperate for a job that would mold the schedule to my every whim when I went away to school.

So here it is. My angry, fed-up "time to find a new job" letter.

Calling all strippers, ex-cons, and drug addicts: WE'RE HIRING!
I'm sorry, but I don't think it's too much to expect a little more from a company whose slogan claims
that they're "waaay better than fast food."

Apparently re-frying chicken that is more than 5 hours old and passing it off as fresh is acceptable now.

Using dirty utensils to serve cheese sauce? Acceptable.

People who steal multiple chicken sandwiches to bring home to their family everyday? Acceptable.

Hiring heroin addicts who are exotic dancers as their night job and letting them handle money? Acceptable.

Dumping buckets of water on the toilets to clean them at night? Acceptable.

Centipedes crawling around the floor and flies landing on condiments? Acceptable.

Shift supervisors with parole officers who drop the f-bomb in front of customers? Also acceptable.

Restaurant managers who get high on their smoke break? Acceptable.

General Managers who see all of this and ignore it? Definitely acceptable.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE?!

It's pretty sad when I can't even trust my coworkers to make a sandwich for me during my break. I won't even eat something unless I know I've personally prepared every single ingredient. I can't even wrap my head around the fact that this is okay to them.

Eat at your own risk.

This totally makes me appreciate my current job and everything it allows me to do. I know this kind of stuff doesn't happen everywhere, but I'm sure it happens in a few places. Always check your food before you eat.

What are your first job horror stories?

XO - Monny

P.S.- Since this post is photo-less, here are some rare gems from the "pictures that should probably never meet the internet" file.
